Bukittinggi/Padang Sumatera Barat, Indonesia

Hey all,

I'm baaaaaaaaaaacck!!

Ini breakdown kewangan perjalanan kami (secara kasar);

1) RM 230 - Tiket Air Asia utk dua org pergi balik (itupun boleh kurang lagi kalau aku tak ambik GoInsure)
2) RM 150 - Sewa Avanza untuk satu hari beserta supir.
3) RM 204 - Hotel utk 3 hari. 2 hari di Bukittinggi = RM 124, 1 hari di Padang RM 80

8 May 2009

Hari pertama saja kami sewa Avanza. Ye, walaupun kami berdua saja, tetap kena naik Avanza pasal diaorg takder sewa kereta kecik2. Hari kedua, ketiga dan keempat kami naik public transportation diaorg jer. Kami naik Angkotan Kota, naik bendi, naik 'travel'. Konon2 nak buat macam yg Anthony Bourdain pesan la "Be a traveller, not a tourist".

10 minit jer.. hehe.. Well, actually Padang punya masa lambat satu jam dari KL, pasal tulah jadik macam tu.

Sesampainya di sana Pak Doni dah menunggu. Dari airport, kami terus ke Bukittinggi. Bukittinggi ni terletak di tanah tinggi macam Cameron HighlandDalam perjalanan, kami tengok slow jer Pak Doni ni drive, tak makan pagi kah? Jadi kami mintak dia berhenti di warung2 makan di tepi jalan. untuk trip kali ini aku mmg sudah bersedia dgn kemungkinan cirit-birit (macam time kitaorg gi Jakarta tu), aku dah bawak pil cirit-birit, chikitek aun, garam osmosis, pill arang etc. Untuk langkah berjaga2 aku minum 'Teh Botol' dingin aja. Makannya 'ketupek' atau orang kita kata ketupat la.. Huh, tak raya lagi dah makan ketupat ye? Mmg diaorg serve ketupek sepanjang tahun rupanya. Ketupeknya di makan sama pucuk paku masak lemak kuning. Pelik kan? Tapi aku hantam sajalah (walaupun sebenarnya dah kenyang breakfast Mc D kt LCCT).

Alaa... tempat Keri Jamaluddin tuh.. hehe.. Memang bagus sangat la kan, laki aku (Wan) org Minang, aku wong Jowo.. Jadiknya, org2 kt sana cakap a little bit like org Nogori Sembilan. A little bit jer. Sebab, origin org2 nogori sembilan tu dari daerah Payakumbuh.

Selepas makan kami teruskan perjalanan. Mmg tinggi air terjunnya, tapi kami tak mandilah. Tangkap gambar aja. Tiba-tiba aku rasa nak membuang air kecil, so Pak Doni berhentikan van di sebuah tandas awam. Unik sangat tandasnya, jadik aku ambik gambar dulu sebelum membuang.

As you can see, air utk mencebok di ambil dari air sungai. Kira sedekah jer lah ek? Rakyat dia ramai miskin, so camtu lah dia nak cari rezeki.

Selepas melepaskan hajat, kami teruskan perjlnan. Ambil masa lebih kurang 2-3 jam jugak la. Kalau Wan yg drive maybe 1 1/2 jam jer kot. Cantik sungguh permandangan di sana. Hijau jer. Sejuk mata. Kami singgah jugak di Pandai Sikek, tempat menjual hasil2 sulaman. Cantik giler laa, cuma kami tak nak terburu2 membeli, so just tgk2 ajerlah.

Selepas lunch Nasi Padang, kami check-in hotel kami (Hotel Mitra) yg terletak di Pasar Bawah. Satu mlm dlm RM 60 so boleh bayang jer la keadaannya. Takder kipas atau air-con (mmg tak perlu pun, pasal Bukittinggi mmg sejuk), air panas terhad (sial tul, kul 7 pagi aku kena mandi air ais. Kul 9 pagi ada pulak air panas). Tapi kami traveller, bukan tourist, so bantai sajalah.

Lepas solat Zohor kami keluar ke Lobang Jepang. As the name suggests, it's a hole made by them asshole Japanese.. Neh.. it's actually a tunnel dug by Japanese force labours during World War 2. Luas dan panjang jugak terowongnya. Bukan cam kt Vietnam tu tau. Macam personal tourist guide lah. At the end dia mintak RM 10 sorang.. Tapi pasal cara dia explain pasal terowong tu exciting, so tak rasa regret la kena bayar pun. I mean, dia pun nak cari rezeki halal kan?

Lepas tu kami pergi lah tempat2 tourist-y macam Fort the Kock, Taman Haiwan etc. Malas nak citer, korang baca jer la kt wikitravel ek?

9 May 2009

Esoknya, kami naik Angkotan Kota ke Aur Kuning (pronounced Kuniang), pasal ada org kata baju2 kt situ murah2. Aku kan nak beli barang niagaan. Tapi hampeh. Aku tgk yg byk blouse2 jerlah. Tapi best jugak la blend it dgn locals. Kalau kami tak bersuara, org tak tahu kami org Malaysia. Pasal style tudung diaorg pun lebih kurang cam kt malaysia jer.

Pastu kami naik Angkotan semula ke Pasar Atas. Aku mmg shopping sampai habis duit la kt sini. Sulam tangan pun banyak (tapi aku tak minat). AKu minat yg kerawang2 tu. Aku belilah telekung yg mak aku kirim (10 pasang tu beb!), kebaya2 cantik sulam2, baju kurung moden. Aku pergi bawak satu beg, dah beranak pulak jadik dua.

Petang tu kami jalan2 pusing2 Pasar Bawah. Pasar Bawah ni mmg tempat penduduk tempatan meniaga sayur2an buah2an ikan dsbg. Geram beb tgk sayur fresh2, tapi aku nak beli buat apa, bukannya aku boleh memasak kt sana kan?

10 May 2009

Pagi2 berjln dari hotel ke Pasar Atas.. Lerrr.. dekat jer rupanya. Hanya panjat anak tangga jer. Last minute shopping, aku beli tudung2 pulak. Ni utk meniaga jugak tau. Kitaorg mintak budak receptionist hotel arrange 'travel' utk kami ke Padang. Berhimpit2 la naik Suzuki APV tu dgn org2 lain yg nak ke Padang jugak. No hal pasal bayarannya pun murah.

Hotel kami dekat jugak la dgn pantai. So, lepas check-in kami berjalan ke pantai. Ingatnya nak makan seafood tapi the only seafood restaurant kt situ cam tak halal ker. Ada iklan Anchor beer plak, so baliknya kami makan KFC saja..

11 May 2009

Pagi kami berjalan kaki ke area pasar. Singgah la beli kerepek pedas Christine Hakim.. Alaa, pelakon dolu2 yg fames tu laa. Iklannya di mana2 so aku ingat sedap la kan. Turn out, rasanya cam biasa jer. Mak aku buat lagi sedap..

Lepas makan tghari kami berangkat ke airport pasal flight kami pukul 2:50 ptg. Tgk2 flight tunda satu jam plak. Oh well..

Secara keseluruhan aku rasa trip aku kali ni just ok-ok sajalah. However, aku rasa semakin senang dgn negara Indonesia. Ramai org kita perasan kononnya mereka lagi bagus la dari Indonesian, jenis2 yg look down on pendatang asing Indonesia, but to me Indonesia ni rakyatnya rajin2 dan very resourceful. Too bad la leader diaorg cam sial jer.

Dan lagi yg aku suka kt Indonesia, bila kita jus buah2an, jusnya amat pekat. Dia letak air sikit jer.

Anyway, kt office aku ni diaorg dah block website2 gambar, so aku tak leh nak upload gambar. Esok aku upload from my parents house, ok?

Till then,Take care.

Baju2 yg aku beli utk diri sendiri (3 helai jer) dan utk dijual. Btw, bulan ni duit aku cam tak luak jer.. masyuk jugak jual kain ni yek?

Ni antara lauk yg aku amik kt sebuah restoren Sunda.. Sedap jer ular lidi nih... eh silap.. belut. Rangup sampai tulangnya pun boleh dimamah.

Gunung berapi Tangkuban Perahu.. macam bau kentut jer kat sini..

Warung arnab.. Sedap jugak ye daging arnab..

Jakarta and Bandung (20 - 24 February 2009

Hello World!

Wan and I just got back from Jakarta and Bandung.

My good ol' hubby booked the tickets from MAS during their RM 0 promotion campaign, so here's what we paid for airplane ticket (KLIA - Soekarno-Hatta International Jakarta)

Net price: MYR 0.00
Total Taxes and Surcharges: MYR 494.00
Total Flight Price: MYR 494.00
Total paid: MYR 494.00

About MYR 500 for two person to Jakarta, that's quite affordable, right? Even for cheapskates low-budget travellers like us. We went there with four friends. Three ladies are Wan's colleague, another guy is one of the ladies' husband. So, just imagine women + bandung = SHOPPING!!

Day 1 (Friday , Feb 20)

Depart from KLIA @ 9:10 a.m
Arrive at Jakarta @ 10:00 a.m
Travelling time is about 2 hours but since Jakarta is +7 GMT so that's why it looks as if the travelling time is only 1 hour :D

We rent a KIA Preggio and a supir (driver) to move around. They cost us Rp 600,000 (RM 180) per day. Also we have to pay for:

1) fuel
2) toll
3) parking
4) driver's meal
5) etc.. enterance fee for example

Don't even think of renting the car without a supir because first of all, not many company offers that option. Secondly, you may feel intimidated driving there. I didn't say Indonesian drivers are reckless, it just that everybody there are so 'accomodating' that sometimes they change lanes or
overtake you eventho there's only little space in between you and the car in front of you and whenever there's 'macet' (traffic jam), you'll find the vehicle are so close to each other it's a wonder nobody knocked anything.

The journey to Bandung took us about 2-3 hours. We had lunch at a Padang restaurant there. The food were pretty okay.

After check-in to the hotel Karmila in Jalan Dago (Rp 300,000 per night ~ about RM 92.10), what else? Shopping lah!!

We went to :

1) Rumah Mode - nice shop. Macam boutique gittew. Lots of branded t-shirts, jeans, dresses, kids clothes, jacket. I didn't buy anything here.

2) Jalan Chihampelas - So many shops here. Selling jeans, t-shirt, bags, etc. I don't know lah authentic or not but I bought a pair of jeans here. When I got back to Malaysia I felt sooo menyesal for not buying 4 or 5 pairs 'coz the jeans was so comfortable!!

3) The Heritage
Bought a blouse here. The price is not that cheap but how often do I find blouse that I like with MY SIZE in Malaysia, huh? Never. One thing I love about shopping in Bandung is that, they ALWAYS have my size.. haha..

Later that night, I bought an Indonesian SIM card and called my friend Mel in Jakarta. She's my friend since primary school, then she went to Bandung to study medicine and fell in love with an Indonesian guy. They got married and live in Jakarta. I asked Mel for suggestions on what to see/do in Bandung. She said I MUST go to :

- Tangkuban Perahu - it's an active volcano
- Kampung Daun - a nice restaurant at a waterfall
- Sapu Lidi - a nice restaurant also.. di tengah2 sawah

and I must eat :

- Pisang bakar keju coklat
- jagung bakar (with spicy marinade)
- mee kocok
- batagor Riri (batagor = BAkso TAuhu GOreng) - I later discover that Indonesian have a penchant to shortformed words - eg: Bandara (Bandar udara = airport), narkoba (narkotika dan obat/bahan berbahaya)

We we so exhausted so we didn't go out at night.

Day 2 (Saturday, Feb 21)

Lucky I proposed to go to Tangkuban Perahu 'coz else, we gonna spend most of our time wasting money shopping. I'm not those travel-to-shop kind of girl. Shopping usually is the least important part of travelling. So, don't expect me to buy souvenir lah.. :P

Along the way to Tangkuban Perahu, we saw a lot of stalls selling fresh vegetables and fruits. The weather became cooler - like Cameron Highland. They also sell 'kelinchi' (rabbit), as pet and as food (hahha).

When we reach Tangkuban Perahu, we were greeted by the smell of fart sulphur, and mobs of peddler try to sell us keychains, strawberries and stuff. The view's so beautiful!

I bought some t-shirt at the stalls, and out of curiosity and pity I bought the raspberry and strawberry from this one fella. The strawberries were so yummy, I kid you not! The sweetest I ever tasted! The raspberry also cheap! A wet dream for a baker like me.

On the way back we stop by a warung to have a look at the rabbit and ate sate kelinchi.. Yes, I am evil. I sanggup makan arnab2 yg comel ittew!

By noon, we're ready to go shopping again.

Ladies, Pasar Baru is the place to go if you're into all sulaman (embroidery) stuff (kebaya, telekung, etc). Lots of kain lace for bakal pengantin baru also. Rambang mata you! I borong a lot of baju bersulam there 'coz I cannot chose. My plan was to sell them to my friends in Malaysia.. (and double the price.. muhuhhuhahha).
Day 3 (Sunday , Feb 22)

Off we go to Jakarta. But before that, we stop by Kartika Sari and Amanda to buy the ever so famous Chocolate Brownie. It's so damn sedap you know? The chocolate so rich and the moist texture.. mmm..

In Jakarta, we stayed at Ibis Tamarin (Rp 300,000 something per night). After check-in, we go to Tanah Abang to.. what else.. shopping lah lagi. Then to Grand Indonesia sebuah mall yg aku rasa lebih kelas dari KLCC. Then, we go to the Atrium.

Oh, actually when we reach Jakarta, we went to Monas (Monumen Nasional). Macam KL Tower laa.. but so many people queueing to naik the tower.

Day 4 (Monday, Feb 23)

Shopping again in Mangga Dua. You could buy kebaya/telekung/bags here. The price almost the same as in Pasar Baru. Probably less crowded here, I think (or is it because it was a working day) day - Monday) By that time, I was so sick of shopping. Two of our friends (the ceweks) got food poisoning. The other married couple still shopped! Entah berapa ribu RINGGIT la depa habis.

Oh, lupa nak cakap, 4 org tu balik Malaysia sehari awal. So, it just me and Wan hanging around in Jakarta. We asked the supir to take us to Kelapa Gading where my friend Mel stayed. Mel still at the hospital (she's a doctor) so the bibik la buka pintu for us and showed us our room. [aku malas ler nak citer betapa kelasnya kawasan perumahan dia.. tapi ko just imagine la hantaran kahwin dia jer kalau org biasa boleh dapat 4 bini sekali gus]. :D

Mlm tu Mel bawak kami keluar makan seafood Indon style. hehe.. Tapi aku rasa tak boleh celen Bagan Lalang punya seafood lah [tapi sebab org belanja sedap jer lah]. Then she took us to a dessert stall. We tried "Tape Bakar" and "Pisang Bakar Keju". Wan and I didn't really into tapai bakar but the grilled banana and cheese is quite good.

Day 5 (Tuesday, Feb 24)

Mel worked that day, so I woke up early to salam her and what-not. Can you believe she went to work at 5.30 a.m!! Well, 5.45 pun dah sunrise there. She said there's a lot of spa near her house (Rp 100,000 ~ Rm 31 for 3 hours treatment, can you believe that?) and if I like she could call a masseur so that I could get a massage in the comfort of her house for a price of.. get this, Rp 60,000 ~ RM 18! Of course la I said yes. I gave another RM 6 for her tips.

After relaxing (felt like 'orang kaya' with maid attending our needs and all.. hahah), off we went to airport. Balik Malaysia la.

I felt kind of sick on the plane. Turns out the next day, aku pulak kena food poisoning (siap demam2 sejuk segala). Terus MC (hahaha).

Secara keseluruhan aku rasa trip ni ok lah. Yg kurang best pasal tak dpt kawan trip yg sekepala dgn kami so adalah beberapa tempat menarik yg kami tak pergi... sebab nak mengejarkan shopping sangat. :D

Sungai Congkak, Ulu Langat, Selangor

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

Sg.

GETTING THERE

Peta:

Bila kau masuk jer simpang ke Sg. Congkak ni, ko akan nampak beberapa outbound camp/chalet yg sesuai utk aktiviti2 sekolah/persatuan. Tapi area situ sungainya tak best. Cetek dan aku meragui kebersihan airnya. Mmg la air tu lebih dua kolah kan, tapi mengenangkan entah berapa ramai org yg kencing (or even worse berak) dlm air kt bahagian awal sungai, tertutup selera aku nak berpiknik di situ.

Kau drive lagi masuk ke dalam kau akan jumpa satu gate besar. Hutan Rekreasi Sg. Congkak. Ha, kat sini la best kalau nak piknik. Ada 7 Zon di sini. Zon 1 ialah yg paling dekat dgn entrance gate, Zon 7 yg paling jauh ke dalam. Biasanya yg piknik di Zon 1 sampai 3 ni ialah org2 yg;

1)Tak larat jalan jauh
2)Bawak byk sgt barang macam nak pindah ajer
3)Pemalas
4)Bawak anak kecik/org sakit/org tua/orang kurang upaya etc.
5)Underachiever (haha)

Makcik2, kakak2 bawak anak2.. Kalau nak skodeng aweks ko kena gi to higher zone.

But wait... kepada korang yg tak nak tergolong dlm golongan loser yg mandi air lebihan orang Zon 5,6 dan 7 tapi malas nak berjalan jauh, ada short cut nya :D . Sebelum kau drive sampai main gate ko akan nampak satu simpang di sebelah kiri. Pastu akan lalu jambatan kayu, dan warung. Terus jer sampai ko jumpa satu lagi gate utk masuk Hutan Rekreasi Sg. Congkak di sebelah kanan. Kat situ ada booth, so ko kena bayar duit parking sama duit masuk per head. Ada yg nak block jln la, ada yg double parking la and still kena bayar parking fees jugak.

Bila ko masuk dari sini should be Zon 3 already, kelas atas sikit la. Tapi nak lagi cool kena la berjln lagi ke higher zones.

ACCOMODATION AND FACILITIES

Ramai yg dtg sini hanya utk berpiknik, so entrance fee RM1 satu kepala plus parking fees. Parking fees bergantung ko parking kt mana la kan. Ada yg RM 2, ada yg RM 5, ikut la org2 kampung kt situ nak charge ko berapa RM. Tapi yg pasti semua kena parking kt luar (even motor pun tak leh masuk) KECUALI sesiapa yg stay di chalet2. Even yg dah book chalet pun hanya sebuah kereta per chalet jer. Tu yg diaorg cakap on the website la, tapi actually boleh jugak lebih dari satu kereta, cuma ko kena extra RM 5 per car la. And while driving masuk ko akan tgk muka2 jealous org2 yg terpaksa park kat luar. Muhuhahahha!! Kesian diaorg... penat berjalan kak??

Utk org2 yg suka berkhemah (means bermlm dlm khemah), tapak2 khemah jugak disediakan. Satu tapak RM10. Selain tu boleh jugak sewa chalet. Click here utk tgk rate nya. Quite economical actually. Aku, Wan, sister-in-law and husband and their daughter hari tu sewa chalet nombor 10, mmg cukup besar utk kami. Lagi la kalau korang jenis yg tak kisah tido reramai. Cuma kena bawak tilam or Toto jer la.

Utk perkhemahan sekolah, persatuan, kem bina insan syarikat2 corporate maksudnya yg ramai2 tu, boleh sewa tapak perkhemahan besar, dewan dan padang utk buat senamrobik atau perhimpunan (tapi jgn pakai baju kuning ramai-ramai ye? nanti kena sembur dgn tear gas pulak hahha).

Hutan Rekreasi Sungai Congkak ni di maintain oleh Tourism Selangor Sdn. Bhd, a private company (no phone : 03-55132000) so kalau nak book chalet or dewan boleh la call diaorg ni.

Satu perkara yg aku suka, tempat ni well-maintained. Tong sampah pun byk (walaupun adalah jugak rakyat Malaysia bahlul ni yg buang sampah merata-rata). Toilet pun bersih. Pondok2 berteduh pun dlm keadaan bagus. Ada surau, tandas tempat tukar baju, tpt BBQ etc

Mmg aku rekemen la tempat ni.

Oh by the way, pernah sekali aku mandi kt sini, masa aku tukar baju baru perasan yg ada seekor pacat kat peha aku dgn sedapnya menghisap darah aku. Mujurlah aku ni tak geli dgn pacat so aku try la cabut tapi susah nak keluar. So aku biar jer lah dia kenyang sampai tergolek.. rezeki dia hari tu kan? But ladies (of jantan yg penakut), fret not, dlm 10 kali aku gi Sg. Congkak baru sekali jer aku kena gigit pacat. :D

Pusat Konservasi Gajah Kebangsaan Kuala Gandah, Pahang

Tuesday, March 04, 2008

Aku nak berkongsi dgn korang semua tentang satu tempat yg tak ramai Malaysian yg tahu kewujudannya, tapi tourist mat saleh flocking ke tempat ini iaitu Pusat Konservasi Gajah Kebangsaan, di Kuala Gandah, Pahang.

Aku pernah dgr pasal tempat ni from my husband dan kemudian ada tgk di TV8 rancangan Trippin' (I so *heart* Rina Omar!!!). So apa lagi.. My dearest someWan ajak la aku singgah sana dalam perjalanan kami ke Cherating Jumaat lepas.

Kitaorg guna Lebuhraya Pantai Timur pastu keluar di exit Lanchang. Straight ahead ada simpang tiga, turn right. Kat situ korang ikut jer papan tanda Pusat Konservasi Gajah Kebangsaan, Kuala Gandah (Kuala Gandah National Elephant Conservation Centre).

Contohnya, kalau diaorg dpt aduan pasal gajah masuk kampung dan rosakkan tanaman, team ni akan dtg and move the gajah to Taman Negara.

Aktiviti PKGK ni start kul 2.00 ptg tiap2 hari kecuali hari Jumaat. Sebelum tu ada video show.. Best jugak presentationnya. Aku yg bukanlah animal lover pun boleh 'insaf'. Yelah, insaf tentang kepentingan kita melindungi haiwan terancam.

Apa aktiviti yg boleh dilakukan?

"Up close and personal" dgn gajah2. Kita boleh belai the gajah, bagi gajah makan (gajah tu diaorg tak letak dlm kurungan), naik gajah gi jenjln.. mandi dgn gajah (my husband got to naik the gajah with the trainer, then the gajah akan masuk dlm air sungai pastu dia suddenly baring dlm air! - Syiok wo!) tapi mmg kena bawak extra baju ler kalau nak mandi dgn gajah.

Interested?

Dlm 2 jam jer masa perjalanan and plus.... IT'S FREE!!! Tapi ada I urge you to make donation!! Don't be such a cheapskate okay? Duit tu akan pergi ke pemuliharaan and pemeliharaan (eh betul ker ayat ni?) gajah2.. utk tujuan relocation gajah pun sama.. so mmg kejam la kalau korang tak donate (hahaha).

Di syorkan dtg sini on weekdays sebab time tu tak ramai yg dtg. Masa aku pergi Friday last week, adalah dlm less than 30 org jer, so boleh spend time lama2 bermain dgn gajah. Diaorg bagi masuk 120 orang ajer sebab tak nak upsetkan gajah2 tu, so kalau nak dtg on weekend jugak (especially kalau korang buat rombongan Cik Kiah, better call pusat ni dulu.. (09-2790391).

Seriously, I think this Conservation Center is one of the best places I've been to in Malaysia. Heck, this place can kick Maesa Elephant Camp's (Chiang Mai, Thailand) @$$. The staffs here are friendly and knowledgeable, the facilities are good and I love the fact that this place is not commercialised at all. Macam ni barulah MALAYSIA BOLEH!! Bukannya buat lemang terpanjang la, bendera terbesar la dan segala macam benda2 mengarut camtu.

Lepas ni kalau ada orang cerita kat aku yg diaorg tunggang gajah kt Phuket ker aku akan gelak guling2. Apa kelas naik gajah pakai saddle?? Aper kelas hulur makanan kat gajah from a prison bars? Apa kelas tengok gajah 'menari2' atau melukis? Meh la dtg Kuala Gandah, instead of rasa gajah tu sejenis haiwan sarkis, ko akan rasa betapa pentingnya kita menjaga habitat gajah supaya gajah tak pupus.

Bukit Tinggi, Pahang

Tuesday, June 13, 2006

Today is my 'Monday'.

To achieve the goal of becoming the most un-boring married couple, we went up Bukit Tinggi last Sunday. We purposely chose that day to avoid the pests uhh... I mean school children. The original plan is to accompany my husband to Kulim on Monday 'coz he had some work there, but the Kulim work was postpone to next week and I was too lazy to cancel my Monday leave. So my good 'ol hubby decided to take a leave also (can you believe it, until now he only took 1/2 day leave in 2006?).

I've been to Bukit Tinggi once to play paintball but this time we stay for a night (back then cannot laa... not married yet maa.. :P). We checked in the hotel on Sunday noon so it's weekday rate (yay!). Went to try archery - it was so damn hard, it's a miracle I didn't accidentally shoot any living thing that day. Went bowling also - yeah I know, all the way up just to bowl?

After dinner we went to Colmar Tropicale, ya know that 'old French town' theme place? I think I watched this place a couple of time in some cheap-ass Malay drama. Were supposed to be in 'overseas' la konon. Complete with sweater and scarf summore. Haiyo tuan director, if in real European country, why la everyone have hidung pesek and dark skin? :P So anyway, we were told that there'll be a dance performance that night, so off we went.

To a girl who never set foot in Europe (or any other country for that matter.... *sob sob*) the place is pretty ok. They have the wishing well, clock tower, and French this and that.. like "Le Vin" which probably translated to Malay as "Kedai kopi dan tempat mabuk2" or sumthing like that, heh. Oh speaking of "Le Vin"...

Wan went to Colmar few years ago with some of his male buddies and they decide to try the restaurant/cafe. I don't know la maybe Wan and buddies didn't look uhh.. sophisticated/kaya raya/anak towkay balak, or maybe he didn't wear a sunglasses and letak atas kepala (macam hero2 drama Melayu buat kalau diaorg gi vacation), the stupid waitress girl had the gall to say, "Kitaorg kt sini tak jual makanan melayu macam mee goreng ke camtu. Kalau nak mee goreng korang kena gi makan kt bawah (maksudnya kt luar Colmar ler tu)". She said that before they even tell her what they want! Seriously, Wan's friends are highly educated and professionals in their own field (law, accountancy and ahem... architecture) and that dumb girl is just a fucking waitress! That's a lesson of "Don't judge a book by it's cover" to you.

That place was no more (maybe because of Wan and gang's curse hehehe) and was replaced with a bar/cafe "Le Vin".

Ok, back to my story.

We stayed to watch the dance performance. Guys were drooling over the dancers. The dancer girls wore skimpy revealing costumes (you can even see their pubic hair if you focus enough) but I have to admit I didn't blink also admiring their move and well-tones body. (I want legs and butts like that goddamit!!!!). They lack of originality but hey, we're bored :-) . Have to give chance to Wan ogling sexy women also maa..

Came back to the hotel to rest but end up tiring ourselves more and the next morning, Monday, while you guys dreaded to go back to work hehehe.. We went to the Japanese Tea Garden and again to the Colmar. The place was like 'macam bapak aku yg punya'. Not too many people there except some Singaporean tourists.

I think I had such a good time this weekend just because I got to spend uninterrupted time with my love. Actually, there were nothing much to do in Bukit Tinggi... only suitable for honeymoon couple, like us (hehe). Next vacation will be an adventurous one. We already set up a permanent 'Entertainment/Jalan2 fund' which I think it such a swell idea.

Man, I couldn't imagine marrying someone so dormant, yg duduk rumah make babies jer kerjanya.....

"Hello World"

My name is Arni (bukan nama sebenar) and I love to travel.
So this blog is dedicated to my traveling stories and such. As for now, I will just cut and paste entries from my other blog [ http://arnisoulsaver.blogspot.com ].

A little bit about me.

I am a 28 year-old woman from Cheras, K.L. I am an IT slave, uhh.. I mean Executive in an insurance company. Not exactly my dream job but hey, it pays the bill and helps supporting my addiction for traveling.

I have a travel partner whom I can always count on. His name is A*Wan. From the first time I met him I knew that he'll be my perfect travel buddy. He is a couple years older than me (although sometimes older doesn't mean wiser, but in my case, yes, he is like a wine, he gets better with age). Our brain are tuned to the same frequency. I like him because he's a good man who respects other people's culture, inquisitive enough so I learn a lot when traveling with him.

Not to say that he's a saint. Sometimes we're at each other's throat. But we couldn't stay mad for long time. Especially when we have to share a room.

Oh, did I mention that he is also my husband? ;-)

Of places we went to

I'm not exactly a globetrotter due to my financial constraint. I only been to two countries - Thailand and The Philippines. But I tried to compensate it by going to all the nice places in Malaysia. Up to the point that whenever I take my annual leave, my colleague would ask me, "so, which weird place you're going this time?". Wan and I hate those over-commercialised places, so we tend to go somewhere where not many family with small children would go (read : no swimming pool, Astro, fast food).

I tried to list down the places Wan and I went to :

1) Pulau Langkawi, Kedah (I know! too commercialized but this was the first time we travel as husband and wife).
2) Bukit Tinggi, Pahang
3) Penang (tempat jatuh lagikan dikenang. Aku bekas student USM)
4) Cameron Highland, Pahang
5) Kuala Gandah, Pahang
6) Tasik Raban, Lenggong, Perak
7) Cherating, Pahang
8) Bukit Larut, Perak
9) Kuching, Sarawak

A road-trip to east and north part of peninsular Malaysia which consists of

8) Pulau Perhentian/Lang Tengah/Redang in Terengganu
9) Kota Bharu/Rantau Panjang in Kelantan
10) Pengkalan Hulu/Grik/Tasik Banding in Perak thru Puncak Titiwangsa
11) Bukit Kayu Hitam, Kedah
12) Then crossing over to Sadao, Thailand
13) Padang Besar/Kuala Perlis, Perlis
14) Kulim (Tree Top Walk), Kedah

Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka tu dah kira our playground la since Wan is from Negeri Sembilan, and my parents are from Johor.

Next month, we'll go to Jakarta/Bandung and on March we'll fly off to Hong Kong. And around this year to Pulau Tioman.
